Laser skin treatments from your South Shore, MA, dermatologists – Dr. Susan DeCoste, Dr. Teresa DiGiacomo, Dr. Heidi Anderson-Docktor, and Dr. Courtney Csikesz – even skin tone and effectively remove areas of hyperpigmentation. Tired of age spots, sun-related freckles, and the mottling or embarrassing redness and broken blood vessels of rosacea? Then Intense Pulsed Light Therapy, or IPL, could be your solution.

Why skin tone and texture change

A myriad of factors change how our skin looks and feels. Skin mottling, freckles, age, and sunspots, along with excessive hair growth, redness, and spider veins, are just a few of the distressing signs of:

  • Aging (post-menopausal sign experiences several changes, says HealthCentral)
  • Sun exposure (tanning)
  • Rosacea
  • Skin irregularities with a hereditary component
  • However, you can do something about your skin aesthetics, and your dermatologist can help.

IPL

If you’d like a refreshed, younger, more even tone to your skin and would like to see spots disappear, then a one-on-one skin consultation at South Coast Dermatology & Cosmetic Center is for you. After a careful skin examination by one of our highly experienced, board-certified dermatologists, you’ll receive a detailed care plan which addresses your unique needs and aesthetic goals.

One of the innovative treatments the doctors often suggest is Intense Pulse Light Therapy, or IPL. It uses focused bursts of light to remove areas of hyperpigmentation, redness, and more.

If you qualify, you’ll schedule up to six 1/2-hour laser skin treatments at South Coast Dermatology & Cosmetic Center in the South Shore area. Before your procedure, your doctor will prepare your skin with a mild anesthetic cream and within the hour, begin delivering short bursts of laser light to the affected areas.

South Coast Dermatology & Cosmetic Center uses the Alma Harmony laser system which is very safe and practically painless. Patients feel some stinging and a mild heat sensation as the doctor treats each spot or area of hyperpigmentation. In all, the photorejuvenation procedure takes about 20 to 30 minutes, and you return to work or other activities immediately.

Some people notice a mild redness, sunburn sensation, or bruising afterwards, but everyone sees skin tone improvement right away. Spots fade and peel away within a few days, leaving patients with the skin they’ve always wanted but had difficulty achieving.
