The newest FDA-approved filler for plumping lips and smoothing lines around the mouth (perioral rhytides).  Specifically designed as a smooth gel, it gives a soft, natural feel, and results last up to one year.

What should I expect during my Juvederm Volbella procedure?

Before your treatment, you will generally sit with a topical anesthetic on your skin to make the procedure more comfortable.  Then the skin is cleansed.  Typically the Volbella injections take 15-30 minutes.   JUVÉDERM VOLUMA® XC, JUVÉDERM® XC, JUVÉDERM® Ultra XC, and JUVEDERM VOLBELLA contain lidocaine which minimizes discomfort.  You will feel several needle pricks but they are generally easily tolerated.

How long does Juvederm Volbella last?

Due to its patented Vycross technology, in most patients, Volbella effects will last one year.

What are the side effects?

Most patients experience minimal side effects from Volbella injections.  Some patients have swelling which typically resolves in 1-2 days.  Some patients will have bruising.  The chance of bruising can be minimized by avoiding blood thinners (aspirin, NSAIDS, vitamin E, fish oil, garlic supplements, and alcohol) for 1 week prior to treatment.  Some patients benefit from eating fresh pineapple the day before treatment due to the Bromelain enzyme in pineapple that has been reported to decrease swelling and bruising.

Can you combine Volbella with other treatments?

Yes! Our physicians can combine Volbella with other fillers, with Botox & Dysport as well as a variety of skin tightening, laser treatments, and skin care products to achieve a complete plan for facial rejuvenation based on your cosmetic goals.  Call South Coast Dermatology 781-335-9700 for a cosmetic consultation.
