Our Mission and Our Staff
The mission of South Coast Dermatology (SCD) is to offer all our patients the highest quality and compassionate dermatology care including your medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology needs.
SCD physicians, nurse practitioners, medical aesthetician, and office staff are in the business of helping our patients achieve the best results and total satisfaction in their dermatology care. Susan D. DeCoste, M.D.
Dr. DeCoste is a board certified dermatologist and fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology. She graduated summa cum laude from Mount Holyoke College prior to attending medical school at the University of Connecticut. Dr. DeCoste did medical internship at Boston University then did her dermatology residency at Harvard Medical School based at MGH and the Longwood Hospitals. She completed a laser and photo medicine fellowship at Massachusetts General and Beth Israel Hospitals. She has numerous laser and other research publications. Dr. DeCoste has been teaching laser and cosmetic dermatology at her academic practice at Massachusetts General Hospital for over 20 years. Dr. DeCoste is a clinical instructor in dermatology at Harvard Medical School. She is a longtime fellow of the American Society of Lasers in Medicine and Surgery. She is on the Board of Directors for the Massachusetts Academy of Dermatology. She also serves on the staff at South Shore Hospital.
Dr. DeCoste practices general medical and surgical dermatology with a strong background and interest in laser and cosmetic dermatology.
Teresa DeGiacomo, M.D.
Dr. DeGiacomo practices medical and surgical dermatology with a strong interest and experience in cosmetic dermatology. She is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Dermatology. Dr. DeGiacomo graduated summa cum laude from Washington University in St. Louis. Dr. DeGiacomo received her medical degree from Harvard Medical School. She trained in Internal Medicine at the Harvard Primary Care/Internal Medicine program at Mount Auburn Hospital and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Dr. DeGiacomo then completed a residency in dermatology at the Harvard Medical School based at MGH and the Longwood Hospitals. After residency, Dr. DeGiacomo was on the Harvard Medical School Faculty. She trained students and residents for several years. She was on staff at Children’s and Beth Israel Hospitals as a pediatric laser surgeon prior to devoting full time to practice on the South Shore. Dr. DeGiacomo also served as the Medical Director of the Laser Center of Quincy.
Dr. DeGiacomo is a long time fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology. She is also a member of the American Society of Lasers in Medicine and Surgery, the Massachusetts Academy of Dermatology, and the New England Dermatology Society. She also serves on staff at South Shore Hospital.
Donna Gensheimer, M.S.N, F.N.P.
Donna Gensheimer received her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from the University of Pittsburgh and continued on to receive her Master of Science as a Family Nurse Practitioner. After practicing Family Medicine for 12 years, she has turned her focus to Dermatology. She is board certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner by ANCC. Her professional affiliations include Massachusetts Nursing Association, Massachusetts Coalition of Nurse Practitioners, and the Dermatology Nursing Association.
Gail O’Toole, A.N.P.
Gail O’Toole is a certified Adult Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. She graduated summa cum laude from the University of Massachusetts with her Bachelors of Science in Nursing. There she received the Distinguished Service Award. Subsequently she attended Northeastern University in Boston, again graduating summa cum laude with a Masters in Science and receiving the Mary Gass Robinson Award for Excellence in Clinical Practice. Her past and current affiliations include South Shore Hospital, Adjunct Clinical Associate at Northeastern University and Simmons College in association with the Preceptorship Program. She is a current member of the Massachusetts Coalition of Nurse Practitioners, metro South Nurse Practitioner Association and the Dermatological Nurses Association. Her clinical experience has been primary care and emergency medicine prior to devoting full time to dermatology.
Karen Borden, NP
Karen Borden received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Towson State University in Towson, Maryland. She went on to receive a Master of Science in Nursing degree from the Massachusetts General Hospital Institute of Health Professions. She is board certified as an Adult Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Prior to Dermatology, her clinical experience had been in Oncology, working in MGH Cancer Center. Professional affiliations include the Massachusetts Coalition for Nurse Practitioners, the Oncology Nursing Society and the Dermatology Nursing Association.
