Cosmetic Dermatology
At South Coast Dermatology we pride ourselves on being a full-service dermatology practice, caring for all aspects of skin, hair, and nails as well as providing medically-directed cosmetic services. Susan DeCoste, M.D. and Teresa DeGiacomo, M.D., along with Christine MacNevin, our licensed medical aesthetician/registered electrologist and Danielle Stella, licensed medical aesthetician, have a dedicated schedule to provide timely cosmetic care. Only a medical office can provide prescription-strength products that will lead to more immediate and longer lasting results. This makes our care a more cost-efficient, reliable process for rejuvenating skin, making it smooth, clear and healthy.
A number of our treatments are unavailable at most other facilities or are not performed by board certified doctors, as they are at South Coast Dermatology. Talk to us regarding what treatment or combination of treatments will work best for your skin.
Chemical Peels
Our prescription-strength treatment removes damaged outer layers of skin, removing or reducing visible wrinkles, sun damage, or color abnormalities. Our thorough process includes prescription-strength cleanser, peeling solution, and an “extra” dose of Vitamin A acid compound to ensure faster results. The chemicals allow for optimal extraction from pores, killing acne-causing bacteria. We offer a salicylic acid peel, “Beta-lift”, to remove the outermost layers of skin cells for rejuvenation as well as the more advanced “Vitalize” peel to provide significant improvement in pigmentation, acne and skin tone. We generally recommend a series of four or more of these peels once a month for a “minimal”to “no-downtime” rejuvenation.
Microdermabrasion "Facial"
Microdermabrasion "Facial" treatement gently removes top layers of damaged skin by “polishing” it with fine crystals. This treatment resurfaces the skin, refining large pores and diminishing fine lines and wrinkles. Our treatment includes a prescription-strength cleanser and mask. The mask is provided to help skin recover quickly and safely. Microdermabrasion allows for optimal extraction to “declog” pores.
Skin Tightening
Skin Tightening is an effective method of tightening wrinkled and sagging skin on the face, neck, abdomen, upper arms and other areas. This virtually painless procedure is done via a series of monthly treatments over a period of 3 to 6 months and offers a non-surgical option for those wanting to achieve visible results.
Fractional Resurfacing
Fractional Resurfacing is a laser treatment to reduce the appearance of fine lines, acne scars, surgical scars and stretch marks. This treatment is for any area of the body. Fractional resurfacing consists of a series of treatments once a month for 3-6 months with very little down time after each treatment, with great results.
Pulsed Light Treatments
Pulsed Light Therapy with the Starlux system is available at our office. This high-powered light source is similar to laser treatments. A series of treatments is generally required for most outcomes.
- Photofacials: We offer treatment for sun damage, visible veins, rosacea, and brown-pigmented spots. Usually 1 to 3 treatments.
- Hair Removal: A more time-efficient process for permanently eliminating dark hair on all body areas including face, trunk, arms, legs and bikini areas. This technology is extremely effective when performed in a series of treatments (average 4-6) and also offers much more patient comfort than other technologies presently on the market. We also offer electrolysis for treatment of white, gray or blonde hairs.
- Acne Treatment: When performed in a series of 4 to 6 sessions, treats acne break-outs by targeting acne-causing bacteria without any drug-related side effects.
Botox®Cosmetic
We offer Botox®Cosmetic to dramatically improve the frown line, forehead creases, crow’s feet and upper lip lines. This treatment targets the cause of wrinkles in the respective areas by relaxing overactive muscles.
Restylane®, Perlane® and Juvéderm™
These most widely-used dermal fillers are hyaluronic acid products that restore volume to the skin, correcting facial wrinkles and folds, especially in the nasolabial areas. This treatment also improves smile lines and can restore volume to aging lips, and the effects last for an average of 6 to 12 months.
Cosmoplast®
Cosmoplast® is a collagen product that is an ideal filler for restoring the lip margin with no “downtime”, generally providing a 3-month restoration.
Sculptra®
Sculptra® is a cosmetic procedure that provides long-term volume restoration for areas on the face that are changing with the aging process. A series of 2 to 4 sessions at 4-6 week intervals promotes new collagen formation to fill the hollowness under the eyes and through the cheeks and temples for long-lasting results. Sculptra is now FDA approved.
Cosmeceuticals
We offer a full line of products for improvement in skin texture, pigmentation, blotchiness, redness, acne breakouts and fine lines. These products are available only in a physician’s office and complement prescription therapy that we may provide for you. Our doctors and aesthetician can design a customized skin regimen that is best for your individual skin type. Also, such a regimen will help maintain the improvements achieved through any medical/aesthetic procedures performed in our office. You will find products from Avene, Glytone, Kinerase, Remergent, Revale and Skin Medica among others, available in our office.
