Blue Light Acne Treatments

Acne is a skin condition involving plugged and/or infected skin pores. Although common, it continues to be one of the most traumatic and scarring skin conditions for patients. It can appear in ones early teens and in some cases does not develop until adulthood. There are many causes for acne such as skin type, stress, hormones and environmental factors. Treatment varies depending on the type and location of acne. SCD has the most up-to-date and successful treatments designed for your specific type of acne.

BLU-U is a non-drug therapy for moderate acne. It is a unique blight light that kills the P. acnes bacteria in your skin, which eventually cause the formation of acne or "pimples". BLU-U light treatments are gentle and typically well tolerated by patients.

The BLU-U light alone is FDA cleared for treatment of moderate inflammatory acne.

BLU-U treatments are simple. You just have to sit with your face close to the blue light for a short time, usually a 16 minute session about once or twice a week. The length of the treatment course varies depending on the severity of you acne, but the BLU-U therapy can control your acne or clear it up for a length of time.
